DART’s 2013 Toys for Tots Drive Results

DART First State Partners with Local Businesses to Benefit Toys for Tots

DART First State was proud to be part of Delmarva Broadcasting’s12 Days of Christmas toy drive with Eagle 97.7 FM radio station and lead sponsor, Schell Brothers, by providing the necessary storage…a bus.  The bus, decked out with a full advertising wrap for Schell Brothers, was used as the collection point for Toys for Tots in the parking lot of the Schell Brothers location in Rehoboth from December 2 through December 13.  Each day, Eagle 97.7’s Petch and Paula were broadcasting live from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

On the final evening, the United States Marine Corp Reserves unloaded all the donations from the bus, which included 57 bikes, 60 winter coats, bags and bags of hats, gloves and scarves, and thousands of toys.  The toy drive was a great success and the collected items will help over 2,200 less fortunate children in Delaware have a brighter Christmas.  To view photos of the bus full of toys, visit DART’s Flickr Page by clicking on photos.

And, for the first time, Toys for Tots collection boxes were placed in all DART facilities statewide.  Over 90 toys were donated by DART employees.

Richard Paprcka, Acting Chief Executive Officer of Delaware Transit Corporation, commented, “We, at DART, are pleased to work with the U.S. Marine Corp Reserves, Toys for Tots, and our community partners to help less fortunate children experience the joy of Christmas.  DART is committed to serving the people of Delaware and their communities.”

The Delaware Transit Corporation, a subsidiary of the Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT), operates DART First State.  For information on fixed route bus services statewide, please call 1-800-652-DART or visit www.DartFirstState.com.
